Claudia is a versatile clinician who thrives on learning and remaining curious about multiple psychotherapeutic approaches. She supports clients with a variety of resources to help them engage in the elaboration of insight and more conscious decision making. Claudia builds a collaborative therapeutic alliance that fosters client autonomy. Claudia employs a number of approaches in her work, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and she is a trained Art Therapist! She is currently exploring her curiosity in neuropsychology and the development of emotional intelligence.
Claudia is a bilingual counselor, fluent in Spanish and English. She is a proud Colombian-American that migrated to the US six years ago in her pursuit of a Master's Degree. Claudia's professional experience has entailed work across all ages, including couples and family psychotherapy. Her primary experience has been in community mental health with first and second generation Latino immigrant families but has worked with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Claudia has supported individuals and families facing depression, anxiety, relational and/or behavioral issues, trauma, AD/HD, domestic violence, and legal issues. She also has experience working with dually diagnosed clients struggling with more severe mental illness.
Claudia earned her Masters of Art Therapy at The School of The Art Institute. She has experience with Art Therapy groups in organizations such as Thresholds and Access Living.
