Aixa Dones, LPC

she/her/hers

Aixa is a curious, compassionate, and collaborative therapist who works with a wide range of individuals. She emphasizes that we are “human first” and prioritizes knowing her client as a unique person before walking together on their journey. Her therapy is rooted in IFS, DBT, ACT, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive frameworks.

Aixa is passionate about working with recovering perfectionists, people pleasers, and codependents. She especially enjoys working with people who hold generational trauma, are going through life transitions, and and BIPOC individuals who are looking to build their autonomous identities.

Aixa understands the cultural pressure to be responsible, capable, and put together for the "family image", and knows the deep impact of it. Much of her work centralizes around balancing family expectations, cultural identity, relationships, and career decisions. She is curious and dedicated about exploring how family dynamics and cultural expectations may still be shaping her clients’ coping mechanisms. She strives to work together to understand these patterns while building healthier boundaries, stronger emotional regulation, and more secure relationships.

Aixa obtained her Master of Arts with a Specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University. She has experiences in working with college students navigating the transitions of high school to college, family conflict and trauma, social anxiety, and the impact of the political climate on her students of color.

In her free time, Aixa enjoys gaming, drawing & painting, bike riding, attending anime conventions, listening to metal music, and finding new documentaries to watch.
