Abbey Whigham, LSW

she/her/hers

Abbey is a therapist whose work is rooted in compassion and authentic connection. She welcomes all parts of her clients and draws from modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic therapy, play therapy, sandplay therapy, and DBT to support growth and healing.

Working from a trauma-responsive approach, Abbey supports adults, adolescents, and children navigating challenges including anxiety, depression, relational concerns, PTSD, and mood disorders. She recognizes that historical trauma and systems of oppression can deeply impact mental health and the nervous system, and she seeks to incorporate anti-oppressive and holistic practices in her work.

With firsthand experience of adoption, Abbey also welcomes individuals whose lives have been touched by adoption in any capacity. Abbey earned her Master of Social Work from The University of Chicago, where she completed the clinical track and trauma-responsive program of study.

In her free time, Abbey enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with loved ones. To reach Abbey, call 773-345-8330 x222 or email her at awhigham@chicagocounselingservices.com.
